Surf Life Saving Northern Region runs a Beach Education programme for Year 0-8 students that focuses on teaching children how to enjoy the beach environment safely.
Over 40,000 children attend the Beach Education programme each year and we believe that surf safety - and prevention of drowning - is achieved through education as much as through lifeguard services.
